|Kato started playing the drums at the tender age of 11, and has never looked back. Over the course of his career, he has played with many different bands and recorded songs of virtually every style. His on stage antics, combined with exceptional musicianship have earned him a reputation of being a true crowd pleaser. When you see Kato perform live, you can always count on him going the extra mile to entertain. Some of his biggest fans are other drummers who truly appreciate the level of difficulty involved in making what he does look easy. After winning numerous local and regional drum competitions, Kato caught the eye of legendary drummer, Carmine Appice. Not long afterward, Carmine’s instructional video company, Power Rock, began distributing, “Visual and Special Effects Drumming.” The video features Kato in live performance and gives away the inside secrets of turning a good performer into an extraordinary showman. The video turned out to be such a hit, Warner Bros. caught the buzz, and now features it in their catalog as well.
This year you can look forward to catching Kato’s latest projects. He just came off touring with Talkbox in support of their self-titled debut album. The band is now returning to the studio to record their follow up, with their new singer. In addition, Kato recently completed the drum tracks for the new album by K.M. Recording Artist, Skulgrinder, and is in pre-production for the debut album of Stiches for Snitches. If that’s not enough, keep your eyes peeled too. Kato has been known to pop up on such HBO hits as “The Sopranos”, and “Sex in the City”, as well as blockbuster movies including “The Siege”, “For Love of the Game”, and “Summer of Sam”.
